AI-Powered Creativity

Students will explore innovative AI tools like MuseScript for scriptwriting, MidJourney for visual design, and Runway for content creation. They’ll learn how to use these tools alongside projection mapping and AI-generated soundscapes to create captivating theatrical productions.

Tech and Artistic Skills

This program combines cutting-edge technology with traditional theater education. Students will gain hands-on experience in projection mapping, AI-powered sound design, and rapid prototyping, while also developing their performance and storytelling skills.

Hands-on Theater Skills

Students will gain hands-on experience in traditional theater techniques, including acting, storytelling, and stage presence, combined with modern technical skills like sound design, lighting, and projection mapping.

Role Diversity in Theater Production

Students can take on various roles in front of and behind the scenes, such as acting, directing, costume design, sound design, projection mapping, and set creation, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of theater arts.

Showcase Performance and Celebration

The program culminates in an exciting live performance where students present their AI-enhanced theatrical creation, followed by a certificate ceremony to celebrate their achievements.

Portfolio Building for Future Opportunities

Day 1-2: Introduction to AI and Theater Basics

Activities: Introduction to basic AI tools, guided workshop on AI-assisted scriptwriting, and ensemble-building theater games.

Objective: Students gain familiarity with AI as a creative tool and learn foundational theater skills, such as character creation and group dynamics.

Day 3-5: Production Design with AI

Activities: Hands-on sessions for AI-assisted design of props, costumes, and set visuals, along with sound and lighting basics. This includes using MidJourney for visual design and a tech introduction to sound design.

Objective: Equip students with skills to design theatrical elements using AI and understand how these elements contribute to the play’s atmosphere and narrative.

Day 6-8: Rehearsal and Refinement

Activities: Scene blocking, team-based rehearsal exercises, integrating designed elements like sound and lighting, and tech crew workshops.
Objective: Develop timing, stage presence, and ensemble cooperation. The tech crew refines production elements for a cohesive design that aligns with the story’s tone and style.

Day 9: Dress Rehearsal

Activities: Full dress rehearsal with costumes, props, and technical integration.

Objective: Prepare students for a live performance, focusing on timing, stage transitions, and tech support to ensure a polished presentation.

Day 10: Performance and Certificate Ceremony

Activities: Final run-through, performance for peers, family, and friends, followed by a certificate presentation.

Objective: Showcase the complete production, emphasizing student collaboration and the integration of AI-assisted creative elements.

Meet the Instructors

Theater Director

Echo Liu

Echo is the Founder of Yes! And... Education and an accomplished artist specializing in playwriting and directing. She earned her Master’s degree in Education Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Organizations from Harvard University and holds a Master’s degree in Educational Theatre from New York University. Echo completed her undergraduate studies in Theater at the University of California, Santa Barbara, with a minor in Education. Her artistic expertise is highlighted by her original physical theater work, which was performed at New York’s prestigious Lincoln Center. With over four years of experience teaching bilingual drama courses, she has worked in both private schools in Beijing and public schools in New York and Boston, directing many theater productions for children and youth.

Kris Pilcher

Kris Pilcher is an award-winning mixed reality artist and seasoned theater producer with years of experience in the world of theater production. His artistic career bridges the gap between traditional theatrical practices and cutting-edge digital technology, creating immersive, hyper-narrative installations. Kris’s work has been featured at prestigious festivals and venues such as Ars Electronica and Cannes XR, where he continues to push the boundaries of art and technology. He is currently a Research Affiliate at MIT Spatial Sound Lab and Artist in Residence for the Creative Media Industries Institute focused on emerging technologies for entertainment.
